(this post could also be called "pony colors - a placeholder for color actions???" and/or "pony colors - nevermind, I AM HELPLESS -edition"

you know how i said i'd make & share color actions of my pony colors palette?
well, turns out i don't know how to make actions!! i understand the basics, but i just can't make them work :DDD it's hard to explain, really...
i need to keep studying the magic of ps, and that might take a while..

so i'm just posting this to let you guys know that if you have any desire to recolor stuff with these colors, feel free to do so! ♥

in case you want to know what kind of layer effects i personally use when i recolor using these colors:


BACKGROUND LAYER: the original texture you're planning to recolor.
LAYER 1: fill it with the color you want to use. use the pipette tool to pick a color from the color swatch/palette. SOFT LIGHT, OPACITY 100%
BACKGROUND COPY: make a copy of the original texture/background layer. SCREEN, OPACITY 50%
LAYER 2: fill it with the color you want to use. use the pipette tool to pick a color from the color swatch/palette. MULTIPLY, OPACITY 100%
BACKGROUND COPY 2: make another copy of the original texture/background layer. SOFT LIGHT, OPACITY 100%

Im not sure if this is what you mean, but to make PS actions all you do is right click in the actions sidebar and click new action. Name the action and then press record at the bottom. Then you do everything that's going to be in your action and then press stop. That's how I make mine :) (Although, that's probably not what you mean, but that's my probably bad attempt to help :P)

that's what i've been trying to do, but after i stop recording and test out the action i made, it never works, nothing happens.. so i must be doing something very wrong, but i'm not sure what... i'll find out later. thanks for trying to help :)

I think your action problems may have something to do with using the pipette tool on another open image and filling a layer instead of just making a fill layer with the color already selected? I went ahead and made them into actions in Photoshop CS (and though it was very basic stuff that should work in all versions, I tested them out in CS5 as well so they should work with all the ones inbetween) and can upload them for you if you want!
